MCARE is the Voice of Current and Future MCERA RetireesValue, Voice and Visibility |
This membership benefit was created exclusively for the child, stepchild or grandchild of a current MCARE member in good standing, including deceased members. Please don’t confuse MCARE with MCERA which is the Marin County Employees Retirement Association. They manage our retirement funds and benefits; whereas, MCARE is a voluntary, member-supported association of retired local government and safety employees.
Applicants must be either entering or currently enrolled in college, university, or third-level or tertiary education or continuing education (vocational programs such as nursing, police or fire academies, or a trade school).
The awarding of the scholarships will be to the top students based solely on the overall qualifications of the applicants and at the sole discretion of the MCOE scholarship committee and all decisions will be final.
The scholarships honor three deceased members who contributed greatly to your Association and Michael Daly, a member who has stepped forward and is funding the newest 4th scholarship:
Scholarship recipients are invited to our Tuesday, June 10, 2025, luncheon to accept their awards. Recipients and one (1) guest lunches are free.
The application due date and criteria are final - no exceptions. The application and all accompanying documentation must be received by Marin County Office of Education No later than 5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The documentation includes the following:
Interviews will be conducted at a date to be announced soon. Check back often to see the dates. Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) will reach out to each applicant and coordinate an exact day/time. Interviews will be conducted by the Marin County Office of Education’s Selection Committee. Interviews are conducted via Zoom.
I encourage MCARE members to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. The economy has made it more challenging each year for students to further their education, this scholarship offers some assistance.
